Transferring Coverage

Can my plan be transferred?

Yes, your coverage can be transferred if your vehicle is sold to another individual. The transfer must be completed, and the $99 fee paid, within three business days of the vehicle sale. (Your coverage remains with the vehicle on which it was purchased and cannot be transferred to a different vehicle you own or purchase.)

The transfer of your CARS Protection Plus service contract can be completed in a few easy steps. To confirm eligibility, call 888-335-6838 and ask to speak to a member of our transfer team. If your contract is eligible for transfer, they will provide you with the documents needed to transfer the policy to the new owner. The transfer packet can be sent to you by email, fax or mail.

You must then submit one of the following:

  • A copy of the front & back of the original title with original owner and new owner signatures;
  • A copy of new owner’s temporary or permanent registration; or
  • A copy of the bill of sale agreement

The new service contract, completed and signed by the purchaser

The transfer fee of $99 by check, money order, or credit card (credit card authorization is required)

The required documents and payment must be submitted to CARS prior to, or at the time of sale, by fax to 724-387-3097, or mailed and postmarked prior to, or at the time of sale. Once CARS Protection Plus receives the completed paperwork, and approves the transfer, an identification card will be issued to the new owner.
